Richmond Fire Department has always been instrumental in delivering emergency medical services (EMS) to the citizens of Richmond. All firefighters are trained as either an Emergency Medical Responder, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or a Paramedic. They must stay certified in EMS throughout their career.
