Master Planning is Underway!
The City of Richmond and the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department have kicked off the planning process to develop a Comprehensive Parks Master Plan. The comprehensive parks master plan will be building upon the community’s vision to GROW the city’s-built environment, CONNECT the city’s destinations, PROTECT the city’s natural resources and CELEBRATE the city’s offerings and accomplishments. This plan,when complete, will provide specific tools and guidance for achieving the goals and specific action items envisioned by City staff and the community at large.
As part of the planning process, the Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting an upcoming public workshop focused on the existing perceptions and community needs for parks, open spaces and programming. The meeting will be held on Wednesday March 11, 2020 at Lingle Hall, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond, IN from 5:30pm-7:00pm. The input gathered during this open house will guide the direction of the Comprehensive Parks Master Plan.
The meeting will be an open house format where you can stop by for as little as fifteen minutes to review information and to provide feedback. To ensure that the plan reflects the values and goals of the community members, the Parks and Recreation Department needs feedback and input from its residents. All ages, residents, business owners, property owners,visitors, and other interested parties are invited to attend this open house.
Final adoption of the plan is expected in summer of 2020. The adopted plan will contain an inventory of existing parks and recreation facilities, a vision statement,goals, and recommendations for the system and individual park improvements. Donot miss this opportunity on March 11th to participate in the planning and success of Richmond’s future!
