Due to the forecasted bitter cold and dangerous windchill, the City of Richmond will open the Hutton Room of the Municipal Building as a warming station, available starting Thursday, December 22 at 8:00 p.m. The Municipal Building will be staffed by the Richmond Fire Department and other City Team volunteers to provide a warm, safe place for anyone in our community who needs to escape the cold weather.
The City Building will be open starting Thursday, December 22nd at 8:00 p.m. and will stay available as a warming station until Monday, December 26th at 8:00 a.m. If you need a warming station, or know of someone that does, please enter the South door (as seen in the photo below) and walk down the hallway to the Hutton Room.
Warming stations are intended for short-term use and will have minimal accommodations. The City Building will offer water and restrooms.

We encourage everyone to check on friends and neighbors, particularly those at higher risk for extreme winter weather such as the elderly, individuals with disabilities or medical conditions, people experiencing homelessness, and any other vulnerable citizens.
You can call 211 at any time to get agencies available locally that can assist with overnight accommodations and assistance with meals and other necessities that may be needed to get past this cold spell and for day-to-day living, if you or someone you know someone needs assistance.
