Movies in the Glen Provide Safe Outdoor Entertainment Opportunity

July 31, 2020

2020 Outdoor Movie Series

For Immediate Release
July 31st, 2020

RICHMOND, IN. – The Richmond Parks & Recreation Department’s Movies in the Glen outdoor movie series starts again this Saturday, August 1st in Glen Miller Park. Sponsored by the Quigg Fund, this free series will bring family-friendly movies to the big screen every Saturday in August. The Richmond Parks & Recreation Department is particularly excited to provide this safe outdoor opportunity to the community amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

This year brings an exciting addition to the series: a drive-in viewing option. Movie audio will broadcast via short-range FM radio transmitter to create the classic  “drive-in” movie experience in the event of rain. This will allow guests to view movies from the comfort of their parked vehicles. Drive-in spaces will be limited on a first-come, first-served basis.

WHERE:

This event will occur in rain or shine and is only canceled for thunderstorms or high winds. In good weather, movies will be shown on Roosevelt Hill. In the event of rain, movies will take place next to Shelter 9, by the Glen Miller Playground.

WHEN:

While movies will begin at dusk, community members are encouraged to arrive between 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM to find a seat and/or parking spot. The Richmond Parks & Recreation Department recommends bringing lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks. In accordance with State guidelines, we also recommend wearing masks or face coverings, particularly when near those outside of your family,  as well as social distancing.

This year’s Movies in the Glen series will include:

  • August 1st - Frozen 2
  • August 8th - Fly Away Home
  • August 15th - Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker
  • August 22 - Overcomer
