Matthew obtained a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and immediately immersed himself into all things related to public safety and in serving the community. Coming from a background in 911 dispatch, firefighting, and emergency medical services, moving into the role of emergency management was a natural progression for him when the opportunity arose in 2015. Matthew is certified nationally as an Emergency Number Professional (ENP)as well as a Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) in the State of Indiana. His agency works to promote, educate, and prepare the public on an all-hazards approach to emergencies, helping communities mitigate known threats and vulnerabilities, and all the while providing training and exercises to public safety responders for all types of disasters; man-made or natural. Matthew is active on many boards and commissions to include the Wayne County’s Local Emergency Planning Committee, Wayne County School Safety Commission, Reid Health Safety Committee, Reid Health Emergency Management Committee, Indiana Department of Homeland Security District 6 EMA Coalition, and most recently in 2021, the City of Richmond Environmental Sustainability Commission.
