Dog Adoption Festival in response to shelter overflow crisis
In response to recent reports of overcrowding & lack of space at area animal shelters, the Richmond Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with Hill’s Pet Nutrition to hold a dog adoption festival on September 14th at the Hill’s Bark Park at Middlefork Reservoir. Taking place from 9am to 3pm, this free event will feature adoptable dogs from area shelters along with dog focused vendors, activities, giveaways, food trucks, and much more. In honor of the 50 year anniversary of the famous music festival, this year’s event will be titled “Woofstock Fall Adoption Festival.”
Community Engagement Coordinator for Richmond Parks & Recreation, Caleb Smith, said “We realized that we had a great opportunity to work with Hill’s [Pet Nutrition] to really make an impact for animals in need...we’re looking forward to a great event full of adoptions and dogs finding their fur-ever homes.”
Area shelters, local animal related vendors (veterinarians, groomers, pet supply, etc), and community members interested in participating are encouraged to reach out by emailing woofstock@richmondindiana.gov or by calling 765-983-7425.
