Beat the Heat Program releases Community-wide Survey

November 1, 2021

The purpose of the survey is to gather information regarding Richmond residents’ knowledge of the public health impacts of extreme heat and the resources they use to cope with it, what they do during periods of high heat, and what services in the community they either utilize or would like access to.

Information gathered from the survey will be utilized to inform a Heat Management Strategy, which will be drafted at the beginning of 2022. The Heat Management Strategy will utilize the community-wide survey, the previously completed Heat Watch Campaign, city-wide Heat Management Observations, and information from upcoming focus groups to outline near-term and longer-term strategies the local government and community can implement to better help residents cope with high heat.

The survey is available in both written and online forms in both English and Spanish, and can be accessed online at https://tinyurl.com/RichmondBTHSurvey.If you would like to obtain a paper copy of the survey for any questions, contact Heat Relief Coordinator, Lucy Mellen, at lmellen@richmondindiana.gov or via phone at 765-983-7333.
