Public Notice of City Code Change
Monday, 30 January 2012

"The US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) is currently requiring that municipalities with industrial and commercial pretreatment programs update the language and discharge limits within their local ordinances. This language currently exists in Chapter 54 of city code.

In addition to pretreatment, Chapter 54 also holds the requirements for the general use and construction of the sewers within the City and the Sanitary District. The Richmond Sanitary District is in the process of making the appropriate updates and revisions.

One of these revisions creates a new Chapter 50, in addition to the existing Chapter 54. Chapter 50 will contain the general sewer use requirements, whereas Chapter 54 will contain Industrial Pre-treatment requirements.

Richmond Police Drug Tack Force Recieves Check

Department of Justice

United States Attorney Joseph H. Hogsett

Southern District of Indiana

HOGSETT PRESENTS RICHMOND POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH PORTION OF MORE THAN $350,000

Local law enforcement receives suspected drug proceeds as result of participation in I-70 drug task force

Joseph H. Hogsett, United States Attorney, this morning presented Henry County Sheriff Butch Baker with a check for $356,495.44 in recently seized drug trade assets. This money was the result of an operation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Indiana Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement (PACE) interdiction team, a multi- jurisdictional drug/crime interdiction task force that patrols the I-70 corridor.

“As I have said before, it is always a good day when drug dealers are paying for improved law enforcement instead of Hoosier taxpayers,” Hogsett said. “Thanks to the hard work of the PACE team all across the I-70 corridor, today is a win-win – not only are the drug dealers denied their ill-gotten gains, but this money is coming directly back to our communities.”

Police Receive 145 Thousand Dollars
Tuesday, 04 October 2011

Police Chief Kris Wolski being awarded a check to the City of Richmond in the amount of $145,409.79 for drug interdiction from US Attorney Joe Hogsett and representatives from the DEA and US Marshall’s Office.

On March 6, 2011 the DEA Task Force out of Indianapolis was working an investigation that a Richmond officer assisted with.  As a result, a semi tractor and trailer was stopped and found to contain over 2.4 million in cash that was stuffed into the headliner of the cab.  The truck and its cash contents were bound for Mexico as part of a drug trafficking operation.  The operator was arrested and the cash was federally seized.

Due to the key rolls of various agencies in collecting information and locating the Semi, the prosecution and forfeiture were done through the federal court system with the proceeds being distributed  back to those agencies who played a key roll in the investigation.  As a result, the Richmond Police Department received a little over 145 thousand dollars which is to be used for training and equipment purchases.
