RICHMOND SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER
The Richmond Senior Community Center is located at 1600 South 2nd St. The hours are 7:30 am – 4 pm Monday through Friday and 6-9 pm Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Membership is for those 50 and older. The fee is $10.00 per person per year. A monthly newsletter comes to each member’s household.
Activities include walking, exercises, exercise equipment, pool playing, euchre, pinochle, canasta, bridge, food bake-offs, shuffleboard, line dance lessons, basketball, pencil drawing, oil and acrylic art, book of the month, bingo, woodcarving, knitting and crochet. Special informational and educational programs are available. Local library services and our own library are here to use.
The nutrition program sponsored by Area 9, serves meals daily at 11:30 am. Reservations are needed by noon the day before- call 983-7350. Homebound meals are available.
The Senior Activity meeting is the second Monday of the month at 1 pm with speakers, door prizes and McDonald coupons. The Senior Club sponsors this program. Every member of the center is a member of the Senior Club.

WIDOWED PERSONS SERVICE Coordinator: Edna Mikesell 983-7307 WPS provides support to the newly widowed people regardless of age, sex, race or socio-economic background. Help is provided by volunteers who are also
widowed. Programs include groups, individual support, fellowship meals, educational programming and a monthly newsletter. A bereavement library and referral assistance are also available.
There is no fee for this program but donations are gladly accepted and are tax deductible.

Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Director: Ronda Pope 983-7309 RSVP of Wayne County is part of the Corporation for National and Community Services. R.S.V.P. volunteers include men and woman in the community 55 years old and older that volunteer their time and life talents to other non-profit agencies daily, weekly, monthly or as needed. Call the RSVP office 7:30-4 pm Monday-Friday if you are seeking volunteer opportunities. |
