The City of Richmond's Human Resources department covers both the personnel files as well as employee benefits.

Human resources is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8 am until 4:30 pm.

Benefits Information

Major Medical Coverage The City of Richmond is self-insured. Effective January 1, 2005, the City of Richmond offers a choice of benefit plans.

PPO Plan Co-pay (office visits) $20 per visit Co-pay (major medical) 80% - 20% coverage Deductible* $400 (individual) $800 (family) Prescription Drugs Card (gen.) $7.50 (30-day) $15.00 (90-day) Prescription Drugs Card (brand) $15 (30-day) $30 (90-day) PPO Networks include: Encore, Healthspan, PHCS (Total out-of-pocket expenses annually are $2,000 (individual) and $4,000 (family) before coverage is at 100%) Premiums for PPO Plan Single: $26.00 / pay period (every two weeks); 2-3: $52.00 / pay period; 4-5: $65.00 / pay period; 6+: $78.00 / pay period Other Benefits $350 Wellness Benefit each year at 100%. After that amount then 80%-20%. Flexible spending accounts also available.

Retirement Fund (Public Employees Retirement Fund) Employees contribute 3% of their gross salary per pay period. The City of Richmond makes contributions towards this as well. Ten years to become vested.

Optional Deferred Compensation Program Employees can contribute to a deferred compensation program. (See the links in the right margin for more information.)

Term Life Insurance $25,000 term life insurance policy at no cost to the employee.

Short and Long Term Disability Short-term: 13 weeks at 60% of gross salary. Long-term: 60% of gross salary up until 65 years of age if medically qualified. Amount adjusted in LTD based on Social Security and PERF Disability amounts.

Paid Holidays / Vacation Days / Sick Days Holidays: The City of Richmond observes 13 paid holidays in 2007. Vacation: Vacation days are based on service to the City. The range is up to 10 days for the first year and up to 25 days for longer service. Employees receive 1 personal day per year. Sick Leave: 6 sick days at the beginning of each calendar year. Sick days can be carried over from year to year. Employees of the Police, Fire, Transit, Sanitary, and Street Unions have a variety of additional benefits as it relates to their jobs.
