Physical evidence is paramount to resolving any crime. The Richmond Police Department Police Crime Lab is responsible for photographing, collecting, identifying, packaging and storing evidence from major crime scenes.

In addition, the Police Lab is responsible for safely storing found / recovered property until the rightful owner can be located, as well as processing and maintaining film-based crime scene photographs.

The Richmond Police Department Crime Lab works closely with the State Police and FBI labs for Drug Testing, DNA identification and other evidentiary component processing.
