nvestigative Services Division consists of ten investigators and one supervisor with a total cumulative police experience of over 200 years. This cumulative experience is a great asset to the police department and community. The investigators have encountered many situations in their careers and have developed expertise and a high degree of intuition in handling various investigations. Through this experience, they have made many contacts to assist them in their efforts. Our investigators investigate a variety of crimes from telephone harassment to murder. Each investigator develops a primary specialty for investigating crimes, while being cross-trained to investigate any crime they encounter. The Investigative Services Division many times will participate in surveillance details as the need may arise.

New investigative tools have been developed recently and the Richmond Police Department has been fortunate to have been able to purchase many of these advancements. These tools enhance the Investigative Service Division, as well as other divisions and units ability to solve crimes and expose perpetrators. The Investigative Services Division conducts follow-up investigations on various crimes and will make every effort to complete an investigation to the point in which the offender can be introduced to the Criminal Justice System. Investigators continue to work with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office throughout the prosecution of an offender, which may include trial proceedings.

After a first response by Richmond Police Department Patrol Division, the Investigative Services Division is called upon to do the follow-up investigation, seeking to bring the truth forward and all those involved in the crime to justice.
