70.39 Pedestrian Control Signals
70.39 PEDESTRIAN CONTROL SIGNALS
Whenever special pedestrian control signals exhibiting words or symbols“Walk” or “Wait” or “Don’t Walk” are in place the signals shall indicate as follows.
(a) Walk symbol or word
Pedestrians facing this signal may proceed across the roadway in the direction of the signal and shall be given the right-of-way by the drivers of all vehicles.
(b) Wait or Don’t Walk symbol or word
No pedestrian shall start to cross the roadway in the direction of this signal, but any pedestrian who has partially completed his crossing on the walk signal shall proceed to a sidewalk or safety zone while the wait signal is showing. (‘72 Code, 41.21) (Ord. 1781-1960) Penalty, see 72.05
